At Fast and Fun, our passion for lure coursing started with sighthounds in the early 1970s. Don Adams, our principal lure operator, along with his wife Marie (now deceased), ran Salukis for five generations of dual conformation and lure coursing championships under "The Aerie" kennel name. Marie was head of judges' licensing for the American Sighthound Field Association [ASFA] for several years and appears in the ASFA hall of fame. One of our top dogs, Brando, a Saluki, earned top honors in lure coursing for several years running and appears in the ASFA hall of fame.
When the American Kennel Club initiated its sighthound coursing program, the Adams family was intricately involved. Marie judged many AKC parent club national specialties, the first AKC lure coursing Invitational. and continued judging events until her death in 2001. Don has continued in the sport, most recently with the American Kennel Club's all breed programs - Coursing Ability Tests [CATs] and Fast Coursing Ability Tests [FCATs].
Don served in many positions throughout the years in the dog world, including, President, Saluki Club of America, President, Southeastern Wisconsin Lure Coursing Club, President, Cudahy (Wisconsin) Kennel Club, and has co-chaired many all-breed dog shows. He has been a Delegate to the AKC for both the Saluki Club of American and the Cudahy Kennel Club for more than thirty years and continues to serve on the AKC Delegates, Herding, Earthdog, Coursing, and Scent work Committee, and elected Advisory Committee that advocates for these performance sports.
With the vast knowledge of coursing, love of dogs, and the desire to bring Performance sports to local clubs, Fast and Fun was created.
