The 2025 Fast CAT season was another fantastic year,
all thanks to you!
We've had so many enjoyable and memorable Fast CAT events this year,
it's hard to believe the season is over. We can't pick out any more enjoyable event over another. Fast & Fun enjoys every hosting club we run with.
Our hosting clubs have outstanding teams of volunteers, and your participation further enhances our overall experience. From longtime participants to newcomers, we appreciate all Fast CAT participants and their dogs.
Thank you for joining us and our hosting clubs!
Congratulations to all the local dogs invited to the
2025 6th Annual Fast CAT Invitational!
You may not know this, but Fast & Fun is the preferred vendor for the AKC Fast CAT Invitational. It's a tremendous honor for us and the reason we sharpen our skills all season long. It’s always such a thrill to watch our local dogs in action, and the familiar smiling faces just add to the charm. This event gets better and more enjoyable every year. If you have the opportunity to go, we highly recommend it!
Now, let us entertain you with a couple of our memorable moments at events.
In hindsight, these were pretty funny but at the time, maybe not so much.
Prelude
Post tornado, April, Missouri. Breed National. Fast CAT relocated to a beautiful church.
The event setup day was sunny and pleasant with 20 Catholic Patron Saints and angel statues adorning the grounds keeping watch on our progress. What could be better than that, post tornado? On the event day it turned very cold and rainy, leaving volunteers soaked to the bone by the third dog run. Despite this, all timers worked flawlessly. The field was good; the dogs were safe to run. However, due to the location of the Lure Op. station next to the manhole drainage cover, the front return pulley repeatedly flew out of the ground toward the Lure Op., splattering them with mud and water randomly for the next 5–6 hours. By the end, the Lure Op. looked like a jockey after a muddy race. I didn’t mention there was a large funeral taking place during Fast CAT. Several elegantly dressed guests carrying umbrellas, some in fur coats and high heels, others in suits and dress shoes came out to watch the dogs run. On this day the crew and club volunteers were never more grateful to huddle around warm pizza in the Fast CAT trailer for lunch! We laughed so much during this lunch break. FYI- one large pizza does not adequately provide warmth for four people. The upside, we didn’t need a cooler for our drinks.
Prelude
Summer. Fairgrounds, Wisconsin. Multi-Breed show.
Warm beautiful weather forecasted.
Fast CAT is running great. Tons of dogs registered to run, Day-of entries coming in as the breeds finish in Confo. People are having fun, we’re running dogs as fast as they can get them out the catch pen and another in the start box, and the staff is happy and enjoying the day. Yep, this is how it’s done. Swoosh, a gale force wind comes along out of nowhere and pulls out the eight leg and tether nails holding down the Timer’s tent and propels it across the field over the fencing and into the grassy area. Yikes! Timer & Ribbon staff look like they just witnessed a narrow escape from a car wreck. Not one thing was touched on their table, just their tent was now missing. Ok, it was between runs. Nobody noticed at the top, continue with the runs. The back-up staff drag the mangled tent further away so it’s not a distraction, take the top off so it stays put, and bring out another tent for the timer table. Perfect. Running dogs, running dogs, running dogs, all is well, and we’re happy with our dog per hour rate. People are still enjoying the day, the staff are happy, dogs are happy, trial is doing super with continued day-of entries. Swoosh, just as a dog finishes its run, another gale force wind comes along but this time taking the Lure Op. tent and depositing it right next to the mangled Timer’s tent. Ugh, two tents down. The Back-up staff go to tend to the Lure Op. mangled tent and notice the Day-of Entries’ tent rolling away!
Our debris area looked like the Martians Tripod machines in the
HG Wells film The War Of The Worlds.
Thanks for laughing with us!
See you in 2026!

Fast & Fun supports local dog clubs hosting Fast CAT events.
Our goal is to help the clubs host successful Fast CAT events so you and your dog can have fun. The real heroes are the volunteers who donate hours over the weekends doing all the things before, during, and after that make these events happen. If you have an extra moment, offer to hold or release a dog, offer help where it may be needed, or simply smile and thank a volunteer.
Without hosting clubs and volunteers, there would be no Fast CATs.
